Giorgos Heracleous

George Heracleous was born in 1963, in Limassol, Cypruss. With a career in painting that spans over two decades, George’s worksare part of numerous collections in Cyprus and abroad.

His oil paintings are characteristic of their flat colour-plane. The vibrant colour palette opens the doors to the artist’s subconscious. Through abstraction, George explores aspects of the self and invites the viewer on a journey of contemplation. George’s practice reflects the relationship between him and his surroundings. Every brushstroke and scratch mark express the artist’s agony, and his feelings of hope and happiness. The surface of the paintings is smooth, as if the works are printed on the canvas. The manipulation of light and shadow create a dramatic effect that never fails to captivate the viewer.

George took part in various exhibitions such as Deep Connection, Dromena Gallery, Nicosia, Cyprus (2013); The Sea Within, Limassol’s Municipal Art Center Apothikes Papadaki, Limassol, (2018); Christmas Group exhibition, Studio 42, Limassol (2019); Studio 42, Limassol (2022).
