Andrea Evangelou

Αndrea was born in 1991, in Limassol. For Andrea, painting was a calling since the age of 9. Andrea reflects her emotions and inner thoughts on the canvas, inviting the viewer on this personal journey of self-assessment. Her early body of work mainly involves the depiction of imaginary landscapes in bleak colours. In latter years, Andrea moved away from her initial subject matter and focused on studies of the human body.

Interested in the malleability of flesh, Andrea approaches the body as a volume that can be reinvented and reimagined. In the artist’s words, the human body can take various forms, which all represent an emotional state. Flesh and psyche become one. Andrea combines a variety of media such as spray paint, oil paint and oil pastels reinforcing the painting’s expressive qualities.

Andrea has been part of many exhibitions such as  ARTmART, Künstlerhaus, Vienna, Austria (2015); Small Wonders, Rouan Gallery, Limassol, Cyprus (2018); 25/25 Artists & Designers in Dialogue, Thessaloniki, Greece (2019).
